The Pit River Tribal Housing Department operates under a set of by-laws, a housing ordinance, and an agenda policy.
We encourage all tribal members to read, study, and understand how we create opportunities, invest our resources, and address our limitations.

Pit River Tribal Housing staff has a combination of over 25 years experience in Tribal Housing. Should you have questions on the eligibility requirements for our programs please contact the PRTHB office, also staff is available to assist you with your application or answer any questions.
Wiyachi Village is for Low to Moderate income Pit River Tribal Elder Members. This complex has 18
units, each unit has two bedrooms,
one bath and a garage. The Wiyachi Village units are designed for elderly disabled individuals, with
walk in showers, grab bars,
and wide hallways and door openings. These units are well insulated, some units have solar panels
depending on the location of the building and sun coverage.
Please be advised you must 55 years or older to be eligible.

This program offers low-income tribal members rental units owned by the PRTHB and rent is based on 30%
of adjusted gross income.
On the XL Reservation in Alturas, California. PRTHB offers family homes and elder homes. Individuals
with a completed application
will be placed on a waiting list, it is the applicant’s responsibility to keep the application
updated.

The Basic Home Ownership Program is for low to moderate income Tribal Members who reside on Tribal
Land (land assignment only).
Through a Tri-Party Agreement with Pit River Tribe; tribal members can be eligible for a home.

Policy
PRTHB recognizes the need to rehabilitate homes facing the most detrimental conditions. The goal is to
provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing.
Low-income families of the Tribe may be eligible to receive assistance that does not exceed Fifteen
Thousand Dollars ($15,000).
The amount requested is “up to” and may not exceed $15,000. This includes time and materials. This
amount is not an accumulative amount but a
one time use over the course of 7 years. PRTHB reviews applications once a month at regularly
scheduled meetings.

The Housing Improvement Program (HIP) is a home repair, renovation, replacement and new housing grant
program administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and federally-recognized Indian tribes for
American Indians and Alaska Native (AI/AN) individuals and families who have no immediate resource for
standard housing. Eligibility includes but not limited to, land control i.e. land assignment or legal
lease,
feasibility, property access, utility access, income, age, and family size.

Indian Health Service funds a wide variety of community and individual housing projects. Projects may
be managed
by the IHS directly or they may be managed by a tribe. In recent years, project types have included:
providing
sanitation facilities (water, well, and septic systems) for new homes and homes in “like new”
condition or
existing systems. These projects typically serve Indian homes being constructed or rehabilitated by
funding provided
through the Bureau of Indian Affairs Home Improvement Program or Tribal Housing Programs.
